When we are selecting a material for the execution of a graphic design, based on the production system, we have to evaluate the characteristics of the various substrates to opt for the best solution for the project. In some cases, the designer focuses on the final result, sometimes on the “workability” of the material to achieve certain shapes and other times other factors become crucial, such as the durability of the final item.
The designers often struggle to identify the best option, among the various panels available for sale on the market, having to balance the choice for performance and best price. The knowledge of the technical characteristics of the materials, offers an advantage in achieving the final target.
The main characteristics of Laminil® are: lightness, flatness, clean & precise edges. These qualities are appreciated by the professionals of the fitting of the point of sale. Laminil® becomes the obvious choice when lightness, cost reduction and workability are the key factors of the project.
For example, if the item has to be hung on the ceiling, Laminil® is preferred compared to simil-FOREX and cardboard, because it is lighter and guarantees the health & safety on the point of sale and furthermore, it is easier to hang (nylon threads are generally sufficient).
We have compared Laminil® with other types of substrates to demonstrate how weight varies according to the product:
- Laminil® 318/5 mm– 0,616 (weight 140 x 100 in Kg) – 0,440 (weight per sqm in Kg)
- Forex 5 mm– 2,100 (weight 140 x 100 in Kg) – around 1,500 (weight per sqm in Kg)
- 5 mm polyurethane (1mm of pvc on each side)– 4,200 (weight 140 x 100 in Kg) – 3,000 (weight per sqm in Kg)
